2023 Measles Vaccination Campaign and the 2nd Round of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week (MNCHW) in Imo State.

On October 20, 2023, we commenced the 2023 Measles Vaccination Campaign and the 2nd Round of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week (MNCHW) in Imo State.

This annual week-long initiative funded by the Federal Government was born out of the pressing need to combat high rates of maternal and child mortality, as well as preventable childhood diseases in rural communities.

This year’s Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week is particularly significant as it integrates a measles vaccination campaign to enhance service delivery and access for mothers and their children, as well as fill immunity gaps in the population, especially among children aged 9-59 months.

Under the leadership of my dear husband, the Executive Governor, H.E. Distinguished Sen. Hope Uzodimma @he_hopeuzodimma, Imo State signed an MOU with partners from NPHCDA, WHO, UNICEF, M-Rite, CRS, MS, and Caritas among other approving counterpart funds to support these vital initiatives.

I extend my gratitude to all stakeholders and health workers assisting to ensure that every eligible mother and child benefits from these important health programs.
Chief Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma.
First Lady of Imo State, Founder of GoodHope Flourish Foundation and Secretary of Renewed Hope Initiative.
