The First Lady of Nigeria, HE Oluremi Tinubu distributes palliatives to 500 widows at the 2023 August Meeting in Imo State
I am deeply moved and honoured to witness the devotion of the First Lady of Nigeria Her Excellency, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, CON in re-emphasizing her commitment towards alleviating the plight of widows and indigent women in Nigeria. Her decision to share palliatives to 500 widows during the Grand Finale of the #AugustMeeting2023, speaks volumes about her compassion and dedication to the well-being of our community.
On September 6, 2023, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu @hon_nkechinyereugwu, had the honor of representing us as she fulfilled that pledge by distributing a cash gift of 50,000 naira, bags of rice, wrappers, vegetable oil, cartons of noodles and semovita to widows across Imo State. My office also empowered 100 women who were fortunate to be present, with wrappers and cash gifts.
I once again extend my gratitude and also those of the overjoyed recipients to Her Excellency. Thank you for embodying the spirit of empathy and for your tireless efforts to make our Nation a better place for everyone. These 500 widows, who have experienced loss, will now have their burdens eased, if only for a moment, thanks to your selfless generosity.
Present at the event were the Special Adviser to Imo First Lady, Hon. Humphrey Ikeaka @humphreyikeaka, FIDA Chairperson, His Worship, Nwosu-Azuama Joy, Director for Women Affairs – Dr. Blessing Azubuike, SA to Hon. Com., Mrs. Chinwe Nwokeji, the Chairperson for the Military Widows Association, Mrs. Joy Moses and several leaders from the Local Government Areas, amongst others.
