Barnabas, depicted in the Scriptures as “filled with joy,” “a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith,” and a dynamic evangelist, consistently encouraged believers to remain steadfast in their faithfulness to the Lord (Acts 11:23-24). He embodied integrity and loyalty.
Reverend Father Gilbert N. Alaribe, Chaplain of the Imo State Government House Chapel, highlighted Barnabas as a central figure in the Acts of the Apostles, embodying Christian virtues such as generosity, leadership, and reconciliation. Beyond financial support, Barnabas nurtured the church and advocated for the inclusion of Gentiles. Today’s homily explores Barnabas’s significant contributions to the church, showcasing his enduring example of Christian fellowship and grace, which can inspire faith today.
In our prayers this week, we seek the spirit of God to infuse us with the ability to recognize the good in others and courage to willingly stand up for what is right in the sight of God.
