Imo State Government Intervenes in the Case of Battered Minor

Yesterday, my team and I promptly intervened in the deeply unsettling and troubling case involving the severe torture and battering suffered by a minor, whose hands were tragically fractured by her guardian.

The 12-year-old victim who hails from Uvuru in Aboh Mbaise LGA, is currently receiving treatment at the Imo State Specialist Hospital Umuguma and is under the care of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups. Immediate contact was made with her family, ensuring their involvement in the ongoing situation.

The Honourable Commissioner for WAVG, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, visited the victim’s family to reassure them that the alleged perpetrators, Mr. Bartholomew and Mrs. Chiamaka Imo, residents of Umuofeka Okwu Nguru in Aboh Mbaise LGA, who have been taken into custody will face legal charges soon and justice must prevail to address the profound distress inflicted upon their child.

My team will closely monitor the situation until we ascertain a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances and ensure that all necessary actions are taken to address and resolve the issue at hand.
