International Day For The Elimination Of Sexual Violence In Conflict, 2022
Over the past few years since the inception of the Nigerian Governors’ Wives Forum @ngw_forum, the majority of its considerable efforts and resources have been put into tackling cases involved in sexual violence and protecting the vulnerable people in various States across the Federation. Each State has persisted in its efforts in creating a working module that helps towards prevention, education, protection and accountability.
By partnering with different organizations in Imo State to execute various projects, we have come a long way in educating the masses, creating helplines for survivors, erecting shelters for victims, and signing in new rules and regulations. The goal of our collective efforts at the NGWF has been to increase the conversation, and raise awareness about sexual violence so that more people know their rights, are protected and perpetrators can be brought to justice.
As we mark 2022 International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, each individual must continue to raise awareness so the resources being provided by various organizations and Government bodies are being utilized.
Sexual violence is still a big issue in our country and this fight, we can only protect the dignity of the victims of this disgusting act by ensuring the elimination of these horrific crimes.
