International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation

Today, as the world marks the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, we must join in the fight to end this harmful practice.

The theme to be observed for 2024 is, “Her Voice, Her Future.” The focus underscores the urgent need to empower survivors and invest in their leadership within the movement to eradicate FGM globally.

In Imo State, strides such as awareness campaigns, storytelling, and advocacy platforms have been made by the 3R Government towards reducing the prevalence of FGM. Survivors have also shared their lived experiences and challenged social norms that perpetuate FGM.

By amplifying the voices of survivors and supporting their initiatives, the campaign seeks to catalyze meaningful change and secure a future free from the harmful practice of FGM.
