Despite the multitude of hardships widows face, their endurance spirit and display of extraordinary strength and resilience are a testament to their determination to rebuild their lives and provide for their families. These silent heroes deserve immense praise and recognition for shouldering responsibilities.
We commemorate the 2023 International Widows’ Day today with the theme, “Innovation and Technology For Gender Equality”, as an opportunity to recognize the transformative impact of innovation and technology in promoting gender equality and empowering widows across the globe.
By working hand-in-hand, I am optimistic that by embracing digital tools, we can create a future where widows have equal access to opportunities, resources, and support systems.
In Imo State, the 3R Administration has embarked on several initiatives to support and empower widows across communities. Through these collaborations, widows have been provided with a comprehensive range of support services and implemented a wide array of impactful programs that have equipped them with practical skills and empowered them to become self-reliant.
With more collaborative efforts between governments, organizations, and individuals, we can harness the transformative power of innovation and technology to build that inclusive society.
