Maiden Edition of the National Women in Power Conference on Nutrition

In order to improve the quality of nutrition in Nigeria, the Nigeria Governors’ Wives Forum collaborated with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Ministries of Women Affairs, Health, Finance, Budget and National Planning and other development partners to create a program that enlightens its partners on the goals and the role we would all play in achieving this purpose.
Today, May 17, 2023, the maiden edition of the National Women in Power Conference on Nutrition was held in Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The event with the theme, “Women in Power: Harnessing our Position in Improving Nutrition Outcomes” covered crucial topics on promoting nutrition for individual and societal well-being. By educating ourselves about nutrition and making conscious decisions, we can collaborate with viral sectors that will prioritize nutrient-dense foods and reduce the consumption of unhealthy options.
During the event, two brilliant presentations were delivered on various intriguing topics by Dr Mbang Ada-Kooffreh, BOT Member Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria and the Permanent Secretary, FMFBNP which better explained the Nutrition Situation in Nigeria, how it contributes to National Development as well as Funding Nutrition in Nigeria. Thereafter, an enlightening panel discussion titled, “Multisectoral Responsibilities in Addressing Women and Girls’ Nutrition” was hosted by several phenomenal panellists and moderated by Dr Mohammed Liman.
I look forward to us harnessing our resources and implementing our strategy with several sectors until we achieve our goal of having subsidized fruits and vegetables, promoting local and sustainable agriculture, and reducing barriers to healthy food options in every community of our Nation.
