The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups in Imo State pay a visit to Senior Secondary Technical School, Dikenafai in commemoration of the World Children’s Day and World Menstrual Hygiene Day

A team from the Government of Imo State along with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Group led by the Honourable Commissioner, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, organized a visit to the Senior Secondary Technical School, Dikenafai to continue our collaborative efforts in promoting Menstrual Hygiene and commemorating Children’s Day.

The interactive session, held on June 8, 2023, encouraged an open dialogue, allowing students to ask questions and dispel any doubts they had. There, the team focused on addressing misconceptions, providing comprehensive information about the menstrual cycle, introducing the use of reusable pads, proper hygiene practices, and the importance of maintaining good menstrual health.

Thereafter, the teachers and members of MVAG carried out the distribution of reusable sanitary pads to all the female students present. By ensuring the availability and accessibility of these essential items, we support young girls in managing their periods hygienically and with dignity.

I extend my gratitude to the school’s Principal, Mrs. Anyaegbu Chika Georgelina, who reassured us of their commitment to resounding the lessons shared with the students.

Present at the event were, Lady Uju Nwosu, Chairperson of Okigwe L.G.A, Dr. Blessing Azubuike, HOD Women Affairs, Mrs. Chinwe Nwokeji, and other ministry staff.

Chief Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma.
