The Office of the Wife of the Imo State Governor empowers 1000 Traders in the State
Indigent women and petty traders form the cornerstone of our communities in Imo State. They work tirelessly to support their families and make significant contributions to our local economy. This is why I deeply value every chance I have to support their livelihoods.
On September 7, 2023, my representative, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu @hon_nkechinyereugwu, fulfilled the pledge I made during the Grand Finale of the #AugustMeeting2023 to empower 1000 indigent petty traders and various women organizations by distributing cash gifts to the women.
The empowerment initiative which took place at Government House Owerri was aimed at providing substantial support to enhance and fortify their petty trading endeavours so they can invest in their businesses, purchase necessary supplies, and maintain their source of income.
I extend my gratitude to the President of Dominion Women, Hon. Mrs. Chikwe Ijeoma and everyone present who assisted in organizing the outreach for the beloved women. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our women, and honouring the true spirit of the August Meeting Celebration.
I am optimistic that we will continue to move forward with determination, compassion, and unity.
