In our continuous resolution to putting smiles on the faces of Imolites regardless of status in society, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Imo State – Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu paid a courtesy visit on my behalf to the inmates of Imo State Correctional Centre Owerri, Okigwe and Ore in anticipation of the Easter holidays.
There, she donated food items and other relief materials we had thoughtfully curated for each of the existing inmates.
Presenting the materials, Hon. Ugwu explained that the donations were simply a goodwill gesture as we and the rest of the world commemorate Easter in a few days.
The Deputy Controller of the Correctional Centre, Mr. Eke. C. Eke, who received the items on behalf of the center, expressed his gratitude to the Government of Imo State. He further commended the assistance of the State Government towards the management of the inmates of the correctional center.
I commended the Management for their effort and urged them to keep looking after inmates by making the most of the resources at their disposal, including the renovated hospitals and other places where they can get quality medical attention.
Chief Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma.
