United Nations Day of Peace 2023
In an effort to promote a culture of peace rooted in love and conscience, the Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL) organized a special session as part of the #UNGA78 gathering to honor the 2023 United Nations Day of Peace.
This session, referred to as the First Lady High-Level Forum, centered around the theme, “Gender Actions For Peace: Ambition For Women Leaders As Key Players on Global Peace,” It delved into the significant role that women play in the Gender Priority Strategy (GPS).
During this insightful occasion, we acknowledged the pivotal role of the Africana Women Working Group at the United Nations and engaged in discussions and conversations among First Ladies to strategize ways to further this theme.
Furthermore, this commemorative event served as a platform to reinforce the concepts of peace and harmony worldwide. Its primary objective was to recognize both individual and collective responsibilities in nurturing a culture of peace for all and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This forum provided me with a deep understanding and I have gained valuable insights into the contributions of the Africana Women Working Group at the UN. I look forward to the continuous contribute to the cause of peace and gender equality.
