World Aids Day, 2021
Every year on December 1st, the World Health Organization (WHO) commemorates World AIDS Day as a way of raising awareness about the ongoing epidemic of Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in our society. The theme of World AIDS Day 2021 is: “END INEQUALITIES. END AIDS. END PANDEMIC.”
A society that does not understand the prevalence of susceptible illnesses can not survive. As we continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical that we also take proactive and sensitive steps to protect ourselves from HIV/AIDS. However, HIV/AIDS is not a death sentence so we must shun the prejudice linked to those living with it and support them while also taking time to know our status.
