World Day Against Human Trafficking

World Day Against Human Trafficking

On World Day Against Human Trafficking, July 30, we come together to combat this grave violation of human rights that impacts millions worldwide, especially children. This year’s theme, “Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking,” indicates the urgent need to safeguard every child from trafficking due to their vulnerability and reliance on adults for protection.

In Imo State, we have partnered with organizations such as Naptip Nigeria – National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). Recently, in collaboration with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), the Imo State Government successfully rescued a group of young girls from Imo State who were victims of human trafficking in Ghana. The Imo State Government facilitated and funded the entire operation, demonstrating our proactive stance against human trafficking and our commitment to protecting our people from such heinous crimes.

Let’s join forces to combat human trafficking, ensure children’s safety and freedom, and build a future where everyone is valued and protected. Together, we can make a difference in breaking the chains of exploitation.
