Celebration of the Arrival of the First Baby of the Year
Embracing our annual tradition, on January 1, 2024, my team and I as well as the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, political appointees, wives of the State Government functionaries, former Speakers, current House of Assembly Members and Sole Administrators, gathered to celebrate the arrival of the first baby of the year at the Imo State Specialist Hospital in Umuguma, Owerri.
With immense gratitude, we joined the Anumudu Family to thank God Almighty for the safe delivery of their precious gem, Master Somtochukwu Anthony Anumudu. The heartfelt expressions of gratitude from the baby’s grandmother, proud father and glowing mother emphasized the meaningful nature of the celebration.
We extended our acts of kindness including post-natal care products and cash gifts to those born between December 22 to 31, 2023, fostering a spirit of joy and togetherness among the mothers. We also shared the blessings of the celebration with patients beyond the maternity ward, providing cash gifts to those in need of assistance.
This yearly visit holds a special place in my heart because it reaffirms the beauty of new beginnings and the promise of a brighter future. I pray the Lord guides, protects and provides for the family as they care for their additional blessing. Amen.
