Okigwe Women Peace and Empowerment Rally
On October 14, 2023, women hailing from the six Local Government Areas in Okigwe Zone gathered at the Central School field in Anara, Isiala Mbano LGA, for a Peace and Empowerment Rally. The event was organized by remarkable Okigwe women; the National Coordinator/CEO AUDA-NEPAD, Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu fsi and Member, Representing Onuimo/Isiala Mbano/Okigwe Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha.
The event’s Chairperson, Hon. Akobundu, also emphasized that the women representing the 64 wards of Okigwe zone stand firmly in support.
My husband, in return, extended his gratitude for the enduring connection with the Okigwe people and the support his administration has consistently received, a devotion we deeply value. As a proponent of peace, he reiterated his commitment to persist in advocating for the development of Imo State, ensuring its prosperity benefits all its residents.
The Okigwe rally attracted key leaders from the Okigwe zone, including the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief Cosmos Iwu, former Governor of Imo State, HE Chief Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, Chief Tony Chukwu, the former House of Representatives member, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, the House of Assembly Member Representing Isiala Mbano, Hon. Sam Osuji and former Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emeka Nduka, Chief (Mrs) Nkechi Mbonu, Chief Joe Frank Ijezie, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Ruby Emele, Chief Major Emenike, Barr. Gerry Egemba, Hon. Lady Love Ineh, Hon. Comrade Simon Ebegbulem, Lady Blessing Nwoba and numerous political appointees from the Okigwe zone.
At the end of the rally, we expressed our gratitude for their appearance by flagging off the distribution of palliatives for 350 indigent women from the zone.
