The Imo State Commander of the National Agency For The Prohibition Of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Mr. Ernest Ogbu, the Executive Director of Open Arms Initiative for Sustainable Development, Okeji Juliet O, Osai Foundation, Ogechi Ikeh and Nwamaka Princess Okogbuo of Global Centre for Refugees Migrant Returnee Re-Integration and some staff of NAPTIP paid an advocacy visit to my office.
After our salutations, we discussed various topics from the work the agency has been able to accomplish so far despite the challenges they faced, my office’s efforts in launching the Deborah house as the SARC centre, to the need for profiling returnees from the state and reintegrating them into society.
The issue of Human trafficking has increased tremendously in the state and all hands must be on deck to curb this evil in our society. The NAPTIP will continue to collaborate with various organizations in several sectors as human trafficking is built through networks and it will take deliberate and intentional efforts to curb this.
I commended all present for their activities in their various sectors. I also implore the public to join hands in fighting against this menace in our society.
Chief Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma.
