The Consumer Protection Council express gratitude to the 3R Administration of HE Hope Uzodimma for fulfilling its mandate

On July 24, 2023, the Director General of the Consumer Protection Council, Hon Mrs Okafor led a team from the council to pay a courtesy visit.

She expressed her appreciation to the 3R Administration for fulfilling its mandate of Recovery, Restoration and Rehabilitation to their council which had been abandoned for over 15 years after its establishment by His Excellency Achike Udenwa.
After her appointment on April 20, 2020, she began creating awareness for the council through sensitization during August meetings, churches, market areas, and schools, among other gatherings and associations. Thereafter, they established desk officers at the 27 Local government Areas to make it easier for anyone whose rights were breached to lay out their complaints.
The commission took further measures to create awareness by circulating their 3R mandate which symbolizes “Repair, Refund or Replace”, they also created 3S which represents “See Something, Say Something and CPC will Sort it out,” to encourage individuals to report when their consumer rights are violated around them.
They introduced standard measurement cups and bowls which will be used in the markets.
To include and educate students, they carried out the Shared Prosperity Debate competition with the team Fair Digital Finance within schools which finally brought the commission to the limelight. They educated the younger children by collaborating with an Imolite, Dr. Henry C Uzokwe in launching a children’s book.
I extended my deepest commendation to the DG for accomplishing such feat which I know without a doubt was not easy. As they continue to move forward with their campaigns, outreaches and upcoming events such as their yearly Shared Prosperity Debate with this year’s occasion tagged: “Empowering Consumers through Clean Energy Transition,” my office will continue to encourage them in any way we can.
