World Day Against Child Labour, 2022!
Around the world, one in four young children from diverse groups is engaged in different forms of labour that are either unsafe or endangering to their overall development.
Regardless of the significant progress that has been made in the last decade in reducing these statistics, Africa is still ranked the highest; having over 7 million of its children reported to be a part of child labour.
Therefore, International Labour Organisation commemorates the 2022 World Day Against Child Labour with the theme “Universal Social Protection to End Child Labour”. It highlights how ‘Social Protection’ in society prevents children in low-income households from turning to child labour.
For meaningful progress to be made towards ending child labour, there has to be a thorough systemic strategy and solid incorporation of those protection systems into our society. Join millions of individuals in sharing this worldwide movement to eradicate child labour.
