International Albinism Awareness Day 2023

International Albinism Awareness Day 2023

As we mark the International Albinism Awareness Day, which is observed annually on June 13th, to celebrate the human rights of persons with albinism worldwide, it is important to recognize that diversity is a core strength in our society and albinism also forms part of this diversity.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Inclusion is strength.” It emphasizes the significance of including albino individuals of all races and ethnicities, as well as young people, women, children, and the elderly.
The responsibility of our compassionate, inclusive society is to empower individuals with albinism and celebrate their unique characteristics and ensure that they achieve holistic well-being.
The key elements for promoting understanding, disseminating accurate information, dispelling myths and challenging stereotypes that contribute to discrimination in any form are education and awareness.
We must work in harmony to create a society where individuals, regardless of their appearance, will be able to flourish and make significant contributions.
